A Turkish court has ordered the release of Deutsche Welle journalist Alican Uludağ after nearly three months in pre-trial detention. He had been arrested in February over social media posts allegedly insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and spreading misinformation, charges he denies. Uludağ appeared via video link from Silivri prison as proceedings continued at the Ankara 57th Criminal Court. Although released, his trial remains ongoing. Press freedom groups, including Reporters Without Borders, condemned the case as part of wider pressure on journalists in Türkiye. Uludağ called for attention to other imprisoned media workers in the country.
