Nobel Peace Prize laureate and journalist Maria Ressa has secured a significant legal victory following a favourable ruling by the Philippine Supreme Court in a case involving her media outlet, Rappler. Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney and her legal team welcomed the decision, which advocates described as an important step against alleged legal harassment targeting independent journalism. Ressa, internationally recognised for reporting on corruption and disinformation, still faces additional legal challenges. Press freedom groups say the case reflects wider global concerns about state pressure, judicial intimidation, and the protection of journalists reporting on politically sensitive issues.
